The Tim Martersteck New Music Project features a progressive blend of
traditional jazz improvisation, modern jazz composition, and hip-hop and
neo-soul sensibilities. Besides fresh takes on classic jazz standards, the
New Music Project will playing original compositions as well music by Wayne
Shorter, Kurt Rosenwinkel, and Jeremy Pelt. Performing will be Tim on piano,
keyboards, GarageBand, and looping pedal, JC Thompson on acoustic and
electric basses, and Ashton Fuller on drums. Reservations are recommended.
Tim Martersteck is a Denver based jazz pianist and keyboardist. After
graduating from the Denver School of the Arts, Tim spent two years
studying jazz performance on scholarship at the New School for Jazz and
Contemporary Music in New York City. In New York, Tim studied privately
under Aaron Goldberg, Vijay Iyer, Robert Glasper, and Sam Yahel. Tim has
shared the stage with Keyon Harrold, Renee Sebastian, Ben van Gelder,
Marshall York of the Houston-based "Foundation", Bishop Nathaniel Townsley
III's Gospel Jubilee, Tia Fuller, and Dominic Lalli and performed at such
venues as Pianos, Mo Pitkin's, and the Garage in Manhattan, the Bergen
Performing Arts Center in New Jersey, and various venues in the Denver area.
He has also had the opportunity to play with a wealth of notable musicians
including Eric Harland, Marcus Strickland, and Gilad Hekselman. Tim is
currently located in Denver. He is finishing his Bachelor's degree in jazz
performance at the University of Denver, studying under Eric Gunnison.
